Means Test and gifting money to children

I am being made redundant and will receive a lump sum of about 60k. With my age and other issues it's likely I won't be able to get another job. So after JSB runs out it'll be JSA which is means tested. I was wondering if I gifted some of the money to the children for their future education would this be then excluded from the means test?

SW will look for evidence that the money cannot be used/enjoyed by you and was not transferred out solely in order that you qualify for a higher rate of JA.
