Hi. Would somebody explain to me in full what kind of benefits can I expect when I have a baby.

Are you working or at home? Have you spouse/partner? Have a look at www.welfare.ie first and ask again if you're not clear about anything...

I am working at the moment, but I am considering all options. What I understand is that I am entitled to:

Maternity benefit - 26 weeks benefit subject to certain conditions.
Child benefit - about €160 euro regardless my employment status

What I am trying to find out is would I be entitled to any kind of benefits if I actually decide to stay at home with a child?

Also, is it true that children up to 6 are entitled to free health service?

Everybody is entitled to use the public health service and only pay limited charges. See [broken link removed] again.
