Hi, i got married in rome and so have an italian marriage cert. Has anyone done the same and applied for passports/driving licenses? was there any problem with using it?.

If i have to get it translated to english, are there any recommendations as to where i can get this done and how much it will cost? Thanks

Why do you need it for passport, drivers licence etc., itsnt it birth cert and proof of ID they require?

both my passport and driving license is up and in order for them to put my married name on them i need to provide marriage cert

I got married in Italy in 1996. I have both a church and a civil license. I've never had a problem in presenting the civil document.
From what I remember, the Italian authorities advised us at the time to copy the civil document and have the copies notarised or stamped by a Justice of the Peace and use these when necessary. If you lose the original, it is almost impossible to have it replaced (as was implied at the time)
