Hi

I have two houses in Manchester that I purchased in 2004 from a company that are based in Manchester.

The houses worked very well for me I was getting good Yields. The houses are rented to asylum seekers. The rent is paid by the goverment to a management company who then transferred that money to my management
company and then it is transferred to me.

On the 1st of 07 the property management and sales company was split and the management was sold on to a new company. The same people worked on the management just under a new name. It's a disaster since. I don't get rent some months and only half more months I have a shortfall of £10,000 at the moment. When I call to ask what rent is on houses I am given different amounts so I really don't know what I should be getting.

I have contacted them 3 to 4 times a week and one pushes the blame on to the next.

Can anyone give me advice on how to tackle this problem. How do I find out what rent I should be recieving and how do I put enough pressure on them to get my rent and does anyone know of a good management company in Manchester

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks

Get a local solicitor onto this immidiately. I can recommend DWF in Manchester (00 44 161 607 5000). As well as pulling the management company into line get them to look at your contract to see whether you can get other agents to manage them for you while keeping your the contract with the Dept of Immigration.

I think I would personally be on the first plane to Manchester. You mentioned you have been 'contacting ' them 3-4 times a week, if this is by phone only I would think it is only making it easier for them to continue the way they are. £10,000 is a lot of money and I think it would be harder to fob you off with excuses if you could stand in front of them and let them know in no uncertain terms that just because you are not based in the UK does not mean that you will stand for it. As Geordie pointed out, I would also get in touch with a local Solicitor. Hope it works out for you.

Hi

I have contacted my accountant, who informs me that he has several clients in the same situation. The management company forwarded £3,000 to my account last week. I have phoned them everyday this week no answer at all now. I have contacted the management company that receive the rent from the government and pass it on to my management company. I have told them the situation they will deal direct and cut out my management company, so I am getting somewhere. The accountant is to contact me later this week about how to get the remainder off my rent.

Thanks for the replies
