I know the finances of the country are bad but what have we come to?

TodayFM news headline: "Man arrested at Dublin airport in possession of €80,000."

I can just imagine it: " Oh - have some money do ye? well, well, well - very suspicious. Sure nobody has any money these days. You're coming with us sonny"

What's next - a militia patrolling the steets confiscating jumpers off peoples backs on the spot that "look a bit too expensive" ?

People being interned for "not looking miserable enough" ?

I dunno...

Are you messing Caveat - I don't see any smilies in your post

Would you not consider carrying €80K in cash as suspicious

He would be a lot safer lodging it with Anglo Irish.

Depending on where the man was going, it was quite correct he was arrested, it's illegal for example to leave the EU with more then €10k in case without declaring it to customs. The question you have to ask from a money laundering perspective is
-how did he earn the money and did he do so legally?
-has he paid tax on it?

If he hasn't paid tax, good on the customs for nabbing him

Is it ok if you have it in your pockets?
