I am legaly seperated father and agreed to pay €160 per week to my children.

I already claim single parent tax relief and she has put a claim in for single parent assistence.

I now have the S/W demanding that i pay an exta €44 per week to cover the payment that they are making to her.

I earn €520 per week and have a mortgage. So really they arn't paying anything, and if the wefare payment goes up will my contributions ?

I pay towards any school things that are needed and other things besides so don't for one minuite think im shunning responsiblity. Is this right that i should have to cover ther rest of the single parent allowence.

If you make legally enforceable maintenance payments to your separated wife you can claim a tax deduction for this (for her maintenace that is.) However you cannot claim a tax deduction for legally enforceable maintenance payments to your separated wife on behalf of your children. Indeed if the maintenance payments are voluntary, you cannot claim a tax deduction either for this.
