Maintenance Charge for Apartment TV System

A company were arranged by the Builders to install the tv system into an estate of duplexes and apartments. (ie. wiring and put the satelite dish up)

Anybody who wants to watch tv (rte, tv3) has to pay €120 installation charge to this particular company and a maintenance fee of €60 per year. We also can't get NTL or Chorus but if we want cable must use Sky (however we can't avail of free installation even if Sky has an offer)

Is this normal? or even legal?

Myself and my partner bought an apt like yours about 2 years ago and all costs like installation for Sky was all included in the price of the mgt fee. And we don't pay for it on a yearly basis. Maybe you should talk to other owners in your complex about this or better still the director of the complex.

I'll have a word with the Directors and maybe they can negotiate a block fee.
