I am separated and currently paying €90 per week with an additional €200 per month. I am also paying €600 per month in rent for my own place. Would I qualify for any relief with these? I also have my children a few days a week - I would be grateful of any info

Maintenance for spouse under a legally enforceable arrangement is tax deductible in the hands of the payer and taxable in the hands of the recipient. Maintenance for children is not tax deductible. Check out here

The one parent tax credit is available where the children reside with you for even 1 day in the year. Form on www.revenue.ie to claim this.

Thanks for that Graham - I presume as I am separated I only qualify for single status rent relief even though the accommodation is for myself and 3 children?.....or is there a provision for those of us who are separated

THink its just single, Revenue leaflet states either single or married/widowed. However explain circumstances on the form when filing so they are clear as to your position.
