mailing lists how to remove name

I've done a search as i was sure this query came up before but does anybody know how i can remove my name from mailings lists and stop the deludge of junk mail i am receiving- some addressed - others just fliers etc.
 
If they are spam then you probably can't do much other than block/filter them. If they are genuine mailing lists which you signed up for then if the email/website does not include an unsubscribe address/link then contact the sender and ask them to remove you. Don't do this if it is pure spam though.

You might also want to opt out of your contact details in the telephone directory and electoral register being used for direct marketing purposes.
