Mail Merge-Word-converting no.'s to 13 decimal places

I am trying to merge an excel file to a word document and numbers are being imported to 13 decimal places. Even if I set up a new file and just key in a figure to two decimals it appears with 11 additional 9's in the decimals.

A workaround that may work is to try formatting the numbers as text in Excel, save file and merge again.

Or you could try changing the switch in the field.
In the Word Doc press Alt+F9 to see the format of the field.
