Magnetic Strip not working on CC- Alternatives?

I was informed by a shop yesterday that my chip and pin credit card isnt working anymore, it seems like the magnetic strip is damaged.

Luckily I had my laser card with my, however can I still use this credit card in any retail outlets by signing for my purchase or is this a thing of the past.

Any help would be appreciated, as it will take a number of days for my new card to arrive - Thanks.

Confused?? Which one is not working - the Mag stripe or the chip.

Most retail outlets use only the chip - in situations where the card is inserted half-way. They do not use the mag stripe at all.

My guess is that you used it in one which requires both a swipe and a dip.

If the chip is working, the card would still be usable in most ATMs, but this would incur a charge.

Ring your issuer and order a replacement card
