Magnavox DVR - default 'Lock' password?

Has anyone any idea what the default password (four figures) is for the 'lock' feature on the Magnavox MRV 810H/05?Long story, bought it cheap because it was a display model in the shop and it didn't come with any manual.I locked a film I recorded yesterday thinking I could just 'unlock' it when I wanted to delete it, like on my other DVR, but it's asking for a password. I've tried all the obvious combinations (0000, 1111, 2222, 1234, etc!) but nothing works. I've tried to find a manual for it on the internet, but no joy (it seems to be only sold in the Czech Rep and Holland), and it's not even mentioned on the Magnavox/Philips website (and manuals for other models don't seem to have this password). I rang the shop and they haven't a clue, but have offered to swap it for a dearer model. Reluctant to leave it back because it's all set up and working beautifully, apart from this!Has any one any idea what the default password is or how I could reset the machine in case someone in the shop changed it?Cheers.

Re: Magnavox DVR - default 'Lock' password??

Might be a good idea to post on some of the specialist AV forums where they discuss DVRs, multiregion hacks etc.

Will do, but was hoping to bump in to a fellow Magnavox owner, this model only seems to be sold in Ireland, Holland and the Czech Republic, and my Dutch and Czech aren't too good.

Any chance this tip (from [broken link removed]) is relevant to your device?

And chances are the same firmware/embedded software is used in a range of similar models so hopefully the instructions above or others for similar models will work. Let us know how you get on.

Hello again, sorry for taking so long to update you on my password battle! I tried all your tips and looked up a couple more manuals on the Magnavox website to see if anything would work with my model, but no joy. I finally gave up and brought the DVR back - actually the main reason I wanted to return it in the end was because it didn't have Guideplus, which they told me it had when I bought it. They didn't have what I wanted it so I swapped it for a small LCD TV, which I needed for a bedroom/office. Will start my hunt again for the DVR I want. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.
