Just rang Ulster Bank and First Active to obtain Interest Certs for my 2008 Tax Return.

Ulster want 3.81 euro for the Cert, and First Active want 6.50 euro!!

This is mad money! Grrrrr!! Bloody banks at it again!!

Rabo and NR do these certs online (just click and print) for FREE.

The most annoying thing is - I'm already paying the DIRT, so the Certs mean bugger all anyhow.

Anyone got a solution or workaround?

Surely the interest is shown on your account statements - and in any case it is no longer necessary to send in interest certificates to the Revenue

Are you sure about that jpd? My accountant has asked me to provide them!
As I understand it, you still have to send them in, even though DIRT is deducted at source.

I suppose its just Revenue snooping!

Revenue wants all taxpayers to move to electronic tax returns, and does not want pieces of paper submitted any more.
However, they could send out a query asking you / accountant to produce same within quite a short space of time, so that's one reason why the accountant asks for a cert when preparing your return.
