Do MABS actually ring up your debters on your behalf or do they solely give out advise?

The reason I ask this is because of the amount of people paying fees to debt management companies.
 
Yes, MABS will contact your debtors, generally in writing with your consent
 
No, MABS are not a debt collection agency – they assist people that are in debt & contact their creditors to try to come to repayment agreements with them.

If you needed someone to contact your debtors you would need to employ a debt collection agency.
 
I presume that Ireland.1 meant "creditors"?

MABS will contact the people to whom you owe money and try to come to a payment schedule with them.

They can also set up a Special Account with you in the Credit Union whereby you lodge money to your Credit Union and the CU will pay your creditors per the schedule.
