Message "Unfortunately Contacts Have Been Stopped”

I occasionally get a message up, black on white background “Unfortunately Contacts Have Been Stopped”
This happens when I have an incoming call, I must accept this before answering which takes time. Today it happened when I entered the contacts. Does anyone know what causes it. System Kit Kat 4.4.4. Phone Motor G

Contacts app is crashing. Try uninstalling/disabling the Google+ app if you have it installed.

Unfortunately factory reset is supposed to fix it. I'm having same problem since upgrade to kit kat on my Samsung S5. Have not got around to doing it yet..
