It's very close to Donore Avenue, which had a very bad reputation (mostly for frequency of burglaries if you lived around there) up to about ten years ago, but it seems to have improved quite a lot since. There's also a lot of money going in to some of the problem areas (St. Teresa's Gardens is closest, and Dolphin's Barn flats are just across Cork Street), which should improve the area further.
I'd treat with caution, but wouldn't necessarily rule out - some of those side streets are lovely quiet little oases, and the houses are nice. Hopefully you'll get a clearer steer from someone currently living nearby. Good luck.
