Hi my litlle boy in going to St Marys NS this Septmber. I applied there becasue when we were buying our house the estate agent said it was the school to go to. Niether myself or my husband are from Dublin so know little about the school. On top of that just got a call from Lucan Educate together that we have got a place there too but need to accept by today. Lucan Educate is right on our door step and starts at 8.50, which is better for me than the 9.20 in St Marys . However the most important thing is the education..and facilities of the school and not what is convient for Mum and Dad. Sorry for being so long winded so I am soooooo confused, which is best. One last point my son thinks he is going to St Marys with his best friend
 
We had the same problem five years ago with hansov jnr. Signed him up to go to St.Thomas's, met the teacher etc. Then LET (Lucan Educate Together) offered us a place for him. We had your problem - stay with our original choice or change! We stuck with St. T's and it worked out okay. Are you sure Marys is a 9.20 start all year? I always thought they all start on or about the same time? This may be the start time for the first week or two. Let us know what you do! Best of luck. hansov
 
Appartently all lucan schools start at a different time to avoid traffic chaos ( question whether it works). St Marys has a 9.20 start all year round. On top of that the creche my 2 boys are in told us yesterday that they are no longer doing after school care. I am very angry with the situation as not alone will my son have to adjust to an new enviroment in school, he will also have to adapt to a new creche/after school.
 
The school should be able to advise you in that capacity. You can bet that you aren't the only people requiring afterschool care. Regarding Educate Together, I have only heard good things about them. Family member has put 3 kids through that school with no problem. Our own fellow has been diagnosed with mild autism and we'd love to get him in there because they are ever so good with kids who don't fit into the DoEd's view of the world. At the same time, they host 'regular' kids and the idea is that kids of all kinds of religious & social persuasions & abilities learn together.
