Re: Luas to Mars - Right of reply

Project manager defence........

" This is a gross misinterpretation of the facts........for one, Luas has
given employment and thus income to over 100 workers AND THEIR FAMILIES over
then past few years IN IRELAND. Think of their families without Santa this
year............(pause for effect)
Yes, you may say that these Luas workers could have found employment
elsewhere (maybe not in NASA, ahem) but we have shown as a nation that we
can indeed create employment at home. This is a huge consideration for this
project.
Secondly, NASA is a state sponsored body, whereas the Luas was subcontracted
to the private business and thus faces the rigours of private
enterprise.....inefficiencies caused by overinflated wages, lack of
accountability due to the large turnover of staff, shorttermism leading to
longterm cost inflation.............everybody knows that state sponsored
bodies is the future for all services..........
Thirdly, it is almost certain that Luas will be able to take more passengers
that NASA Spirit (although this has yet to be confirmed).

as I say, a gross misinterpretation of the facts".
