I tried ROS years ago, when it first launched, and gave up in bafflement when it kept telling me I was non-PAYE (I've never been anything else but PAYE). Rang and wrote to Revenue trying to get it sorted out, and the best their 'technical support' could manage was to tell me to try again later, hopefully it would come right...
I've not been tempted to repeat the experiment. I know (or rather, I hear people insisting) that they've become much more efficient in recent years, but every single year I have to ring up and get them to manually restore my correct credits and allowances — which haven't changed in four years.
If they can't manage a simple PAYE taxpayer who's been with the same employer for 20 years, I shudder to think what they will make of the LPT.
