We are taking a few days off for a family break and plan to visit Sligo and Leitrim - can anyone recommend scenic areas or areas of archeologic interest in Leitrim - what should we not miss?

Thanks!

the Arigna mines tour is supposed to be good. There is a turn off for it between Carrick on Shanon and Boyle.

Yes, it is excellent and for the record it is in Co. Roscommon :).

North Leitrim is prettiest I think. The road from Sligo town out to Glencar, past Ben Bulben and Drumcliff for example. Glencar is lovely, and immortalised by Yeats (and is in fact in Leitrim, not Sligo I understand).

Archaelogical sites are found at Carrowmore Megalithic Site in Co. Sligo.

Marble Arch caves at florencecourt just across the border in fermanagh (near enniskillen) well worth a visit.
