Lost property in taxi

Mother left handbag in back of taxi the other hand. Ok really as no keys, credit cards etc were in it - most valuable thing was pair of glasses. However is most upset of personal things such as memorial cards. Am going to try the carriage office - does anyone know whether this is open on bank holidays.
