Losing equity through shared ownership??

Hi guys, i'm currently livng with my parents but desperately want to move out and start building my life. So im intrugued by Shared ownership, I have seen a couple of new flats near canary wharf right by my work so the location is perfect. Im not too bothered about the fact I would only own a percentage of the property.

However I am concerned about losing my equity over time. In what situation would this happen?

Have you thought about renting?

i dont want to rent because:

1. i dont want to live with randoms and rent a room
2. i cant afford the monthy rent for somewhere decent on my own

have you experience with SO?
