Looks like a Leak ?

Hi Experts,

I'm looking at buying an 04 Mondeo LX (2.0 Deisel) 120K+ miles on it.
I had a quick look at the engine (dont know why because I havent a clue) anyway, just looked down front (over to the right of the dipstick) part of engine and there seems to be oil of some sort.

The leak is on what looks like a bowlers hat with raised lines (this is on its side and looks to be made of aluminium)

Any ideas what this might be and if its serious, cost to fix, etc.

Any chance it could be spillage from someone re-filling the engine at oil change

Worth getting an AA or other vehicle check done for a car this age and mileage if you have any doubts

I dont think its spliage from re-filling of engine oil, the cap is too far away, I'm getting a mechanic to take a look at it tomorrow. so we'll see.

I don't thinl I would be buying a 4 year old car with over 120k on it for starters unless it is for nothing.
