looking inside cavities?

Is there a gadget I can buy that will allow me to look inside cavities as I want to check if they have been breached?

Yep, you should be able to get it from a survey equipment company. The cheapest way to get it I think would be to purchase an adaptor which attaches to the the lense of your digital camera:

You can get it from Celtic Surveys (based in Meath) & I think it's called an endoscope. Last time I purchased one it was approx €150. I'm sure they let out equipment also.

I assume you are talking about "wall cavities"? I live in a part of the country where there is a problem with limestone cavities in the ground.
