Looking for someone to value a property I'm buying

I have put down a deposit on a house and would like to get an independent valuation. The house is not finished yet and I would like to find out if the property has lost value since I placed the deposit. Do I need permission from the developer to take a valuer to see it? It's currently a building site with very few access restrictions.

The deposit was put down around 5 months ago and I'm worried I'm tied into a price on a house that has been losing value since then. The house price was a pre launch offer. Should i be negotating with the developer to bring the price down?

Thanks

Have you put a deposit or exchanged contracts ?? If you have put a deposit down, then you are entitled to your money back. If you have signed contracts there really i'ny much y can do unless the developer has breached the terms of the contract.

Haven't signed contracts yet although these are now with solicitor. It was a refundable booking deposit. I do not necessarily want to get my money back. Just worried that the house has lost value compared to agreed pre-launch offer sale price.

This is a buyer's market at the moment. Whilst am unable to state if you could get a better deal, you should may take your time in signing contracts. Don't think you are going to be Gazumped in this market.

OK. So you are not legally bound to buy this property so you have lots of options. You are not tied in to buying the property at the price you agreed.

If there are no access restrictions, there is nothing to stop you inviting a valuer to give you their valuation. After that, it is a matter of negotiation between you and the developer.

But remember, you don't have to buy and he does not have to sell to you.
