Long Term Parking in Shannon

Heading to the USA for 2 weeks on Sunday week.

Parking in Shannon is about 90 euro.

Heard that some people park in the Great Southern and it is cheaper, is this an urban myth or has someone done this before?
 
I rang the Great Southern back in June thinking if we stayed there the night before flying we might be able to park at a cheaper rate than the airport for the duration of our holiday. However hotel only allows you to park for the duration of your hotel stay - unless it's different in the wintertime. The charge for airport parking was €40 per week as far as I remember and €8 per day.
