I have heard that the payment to lone parents on Communityi Employment are going to be cut.

Does anybody know if this is true?

How much and when?

Why are they doing this... with all the cuts and price increases its not making it worthwhile to do anything.

These schemes are supposed to help us back into jobs...

This is from the INOU website

Lone Parents to lose child payment on Community Employment from 20th February 2012

As of the 20th February 2012 persons who are in receipt of the One Parent Family Payment (OPFP) will no longer qualify to receive an additional payment for qualified children while participating on a Community Employment (CE) scheme . The new weekly rate of payment on Community Employment, for those in receipt of the One Parent Family Payment, will be €208 per week. One Parent Families will continue to receive payment for qualified children on their One Parent Family Payment.

As you will be receiving less from your CE placement, you should contact your social welfare office and have your lone parent book adjusted. You should get an additional amount on your lone parent payment, as you're earning less from CE.

If you are on rent supplement, you should contact your local rents unit or Community Welfare Officer then you should contact them to let them know your income has decreased, and have your rent supplement adjusted accordingly.
