hello,

i was given a car by someone who left the country, there was no log book and im looking at trading it in. how can i get the log book transferred into my name if person is away from ireland?

not sure but cant you apply to shannon for a replacement one,,

you may have to say that you are the 'OWNER' ahem..

Just an opinion

or you can do it like this? I could only find info from Donegal, but presumably the same applies nationwide?

Change of ownership - Person purchases vehicle, previous owner has lost VLC/VRC or person cannot locate previous owner.

For vehicles registered after 01/01/1993

New owner completes an affidavit which is in turn signed by a Commissioner of Oaths/Peace Commissioner/Practicing Solicitor, the person can send the form to the VRU, Shannon directly themselves or take the completed affidavit into the Motor Tax Office who will forward the form to Shannon (there is no necessity for an RF134 form to be completed nor is there a fee involved). Shannon will then update the Computer System with the new owners details and a new Vehicle Registration Certificate will issue to the new owner.
