Hi All,
Yet again I have experienced a problem with AIB. I received a cheque drawn in my favour from a third party which was, I think, crossed. I receive my AIB Visa statements electronically and pay automatically by D/Dr. The AIB E-statement does not include a Remittance Advice form so I printed out a short letter to my AIB branch and attached the cheque asking them to lodge / credit it to my nominated AIB Visa A/C.
AIB (not the first time) refused to do so and insisted I could only lodge it to my AIB current account? AIB claim that this was related to the fact that the cheque was crossed. I can't recall if it was or not but it was drawn in my favour with same name as on my AIB Visa A/C.
Surely, I can lodge a crossed cheque drawn in my favour to any of my accounts. I suspect that this is nothing to do with the cheque being crossed and that AIB are simply being obdurate.
Any advice would be appreciated.
