Seldom I have to do this but with all the new restrictions can I lodge a social welfare cheque amt €40 signed by payee on back to:-

1. My own account.

or

2. Lodge the cheque to the payee's account by just quoting their account number.

Check what's stated on the front as opposed to what's signed on the back.

If it says "A/C Payee Only" then its to the recipients account.

Don't be surprised if this raises eyebrows at the bank.

However, if it is to the recipients account and that account is in bank of ireland, you will need to check if the account is a joint account in which case the recipient will have to sign the back of the cheque (or according to some sages on this forum) you may not be able to lodge the cheque on their behalf at all.
