Hi all,
I'm an experienced medical/legal typist with 70+ wpm. I currently work mon-fri, 9-5, but I'd love to take on some additional typing work in the evening. What's the normal process? Anyone here employed as a locum typist? Any help appreciated!

Thank you

Hi Newbie2009,

What's the difference between a medical/legal typist and an ordinary typist?

Hi Newbie2009,

A medical typist is familiar with medical terms and how to spell them. Same I suppose with a legal typist, isn't there a lot of latin used?

That said a good typist is a good typist and the lingo can be picked up.

That's what I was thinking.

I was also thinking there could be huge use of standard "legalese" paragraphs and letters as well as terms which an experienced legal typist could infer from a reference in the draft, saving a lot of time for the composer.

Have you contacted GP practices in your area?
You could also put a small ad in the medical trade newspapers.
