Local list Fingal?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I've searched for the answer but can't find it anywhere.

Myself and my fiance are currently trying to get all the documentation in order to apply for affordable housing.

I've heard that there is a local list and a general list but can't seem to find any information about how you qualify for the local list.

My fiance is from Swords, but we're currently living in Westmeath and commuting to Dublin because we can't afford to save and pay rent Swords at the moment. Does it matter where we live at the moment or is it just important to be from the area, seeing as the reason it exists is to keep people close to family and friends.

What do they require to prove that you're from the area?

It says on the Fingal website that "Certain applicants who satisfy the Council that they have been resident in one of the housing areas for a period of not less than 5 consecutive years may also be eligible to be placed on the relevant Local area housing list." However, you could discuss it at the interview stage if there's proof he grew up in the area.

when you apply , ring them up and them youre originaly from swords and what the address in swords was . thats what i did anyway.

id get your skates on tho. It took nine months for me just to get on the general list. They dont do interviews anymore so just have all your paperwork ready.

if you tell them youre from fongal originaly youve a chance of getting approved earlier than non fingal people

Hi, just wondering if anyone has heard anything lately from Fingal, I have been on the general list for nearly a year, I rang yesterday and I am still number 270. I know thats not bad out of 7 hundred and odd but it seems to take forever!!!

All I know is that there's an almost completed housing estate in Balrothery, as mentioned in another post and a good few are affordable housing scheme. (The rest are social and AHI)
That's all- haven't heard a peep out of them in months.
Any luck with the local list, Totoro?

Thanks Kara, from talking to the girl she said that they have had lots of properties coming in and are expecting a lot more. Hopefully we get some news soon!!
