Loan to clear credit card - impact on mortgage application

I'm looking to get a loan to clear my credit card balance from my bank. I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage in the coming months and just wanted to make sure I have all the facts before I go ahead. I just have a couple of questions and would love any input...

1. I''m not in arrears, no missed payments but I've been told that the loan I get will be a restructuring loan instead of a personal loan. Does anyone know if this will make a difference to a mortgage application a few months down the line? As in, is it bad having a restructuring loan on your ICB report?

2. When you take out a loan is it true that you can't take out any other loans for a year? Or is this just that you can't take out another loan with the same bank?

Thanks in advance!

Update:

Spoke to the bank today and got the answer to my question - Taking out a restructuring loan will prohibit us from taking out any additional loans for the term of the loan. They couldn't say whether this included taking out a mortgage but needless to day I won't be borrowing to clear the card!!

You should really use your savings to pay off your credit card balance. It will save you a lot in interest.

Very worrying the questions. Loans are not a good thing. Why is your credit card account in such bad shape. Have you thought about cutting it up. You need to tackle this before you get a loan, pay off the credit card and run up more debt.
