Load iPod

Hi all,

I have an iPod mini which is excellent. I want to load more tracks on it but the trouble is my laptop got stolen with all my music on it so if I plug in my iPod to my new computer my iPod gets wiped. Is this correct?? Are there any way to avoid loosing all my music????????????
