llness benefit and leaving job

Hi

I have been out of work for 4 months on sick leave one month of which I was in hospital. I have been claiming illness benefit and unpaid leave from work for 2 months. My sick leave was brought on by work related stress and bullying so while on sick leave I have decided to look for a new position. I have found a new role which I will start in September. Am I entitlted to claim illness benefit if I leave my job? I cannot go back to this workplace due to the bullying I endured and am looking into taking this further, please can anyone offer advice?

Illness Benefit is based on you being certified as being ill, not on having a job.

Thank you Welfarite for clearing that matter up. I hope to be fully recovered and in order to recommence a new position in September.
