Hi,

Very basic query....having just had a baby, my partner and I think we should get life insurance and make a will, should anything happen to us.

However, I always thought life insurance was tied in with a mortgage. We are renters, with a property in the UK (we are waiting for things to improve so we can sell UK property and buy here). This might be 1 or 2 years time, so in the meantime want to buy life insurance. Is it possible to buy life insurance without a mortgage? And where can we find a list of life insurers to get competitve quotes?

Life assurance is often linked in with a mortgage, however most people would have some level of life cover to provide for their family in the event of death (totally seperate from mortgage). Any broker will be able to give you a quote for life cover
