Life Insurance for a diabetic

Hi,

My partner had life insurance as he purchased it when he took out his first mortgage. He was charged a higher premium as he is a type 1 diabetic. We are applying for a joint mortgage application and I was wondering if he would be better off to go as joint policy holder with me or should we remain on separate policies?

Thanks.

You've a few options: -

(1) If your partner's existing life cover is of a suitable amount and term for the new mortgage, he can use it for the new mortgage and you would simply get your own policy.

(2) If it's not and cannot be increased/extended to suit, you'll have to get a new policy. In this example, it doesn't matter if you have two individual policies or one joint. If a loading is going to apply, it will apply to a joint policy (but just to his part of the premium) or to an individual contract.

Just saw this post....can I ask who you are getting your insurance from? I am looking for a competitve quote myself.
Thanks
