Life inside the banks' arrears collections units

Most interesting aspect is the tracking of stats, teams competing etc, and the banks are now just large debt collection agencies!

So back in the boom they measured who could sell the most debt, regardless of whether it would actually be repaid and now they measure who can "sell" the most restructures regardless of whether they will or can be adhered to

Nice of them to tell everyone that between 5.30pm and 7.30pm is the best time to phone people.

What is interesting about the article is that this is now a business within a business but there is a serious point here. The banks have assumed a figure that will not be repaid and the target of these teams is how much above this figure they can get. Thats is what i am assuming their targets are driven by. So it would be interesting to view the stats of the best performers and what works best for them as this is where the rewards will be directed by the banks and the further training of the non performing personnel will be driven by this performance. It would also be worthwhile to find out the figures they have provisioned for on each case.
