Very interesting recent research has shown that life expectancy is reducing.
For many years, authorities had understood that life expectancy was increasing and incrementally attempted to align public policies to better reflect this phenomenon. Interestingly, the reversal of longevity improvements was discovered, like many great discoveries, quite by accident.
This discovery did not come from, as one might expect, some form of mortality study but rather from time sensitive research of voter intentions in the run-up to the forthcoming general election. The only controversy in all of this seems to be the identity of the person/party who made this ground-breaking discovery - such is the enthusiasm that each party seems to claim ownership of this and the consequent urgent need to realign public policies.
