When we bought our house 2 yrs ago my husband was refused life assurance due to high levels in his liver - I got cover on my life only and the Mortgage company were happy with that. My husband now wants to try again to get cover as he thinks his health has improved and wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and if so, which company did they use. Our mortgage is for €300,000 and there are 23yrs left on same. He is 37 and a smoker. Just wondering what type of quote prices I am likely to get if I go to a broker.

I have always found that Caledonian Life have the most "generous" underwriters - if anyone will give you cover they will - and their premiums are generally right up there with the best as well.

Nobody here can give you quotes, if there is going to be a loading applied

Hi there, I am in a similar position whereby I cannot get life cover.

If your husband happens to have a pension plan which includes some life cover, it may be worth exploring whether you can obtain additional cover via your pension.

I did and it worked out very well for me and at a fraction of the cost too.
The premium will most likely increase as he gets older.

Just be aware that life assurance cover arranged as part of a pension scheme cannot be assigned to a lender.
