In relation to life assurance - and non smoker status.

I am helping some friends with life assurance queries [just jargon busting for them really]

One of them smokes a couple of cigars a year [ 5-6 max] does this qualify him as a smoker ? and thus for smoker rates ? I know in the US there is some allowances for low level cigar smokers - does this apply here ?

Silly question but just wondering when the quantity would make any difference ?

Obviously, i will be recommending that they get professional advise, but i just wanted to clear this up.

Re: Life Assurance

The smoking question on life assurance policies refers to tobacco. The quantity does not matter to qualify someone as a smoker.

Re: Life Assurance

There is at least one insurer that refers specifically to cigarettes in the smoker question. I think it's Eagle Star.

I am an Insurance Broker. Eagle Star will insure you as a non smoker. There used to be more companies out there but they have since quit. If you want you can PM me an i will see if they will accept you.
