Lidl Shiny Sinks marks my stainless steel Hob

What should I do?
I tried a small circle and it made the area lighter than the rest.
The Steel is a Siemens Stainless Steel Hob. Is there any way to fix it?

Assuming "Lidl Shiny Sinks" is a product for sinks does the packaging say it can be used on stainless steel hobs, fridges etc?

I once got butter (which left a large dark stain) on an expensive textured framing mount when changing a photograph which I left on kitchen island. The only thing I could do was rub this whole mount and a second matching mount with more butter. This way no one knows any difference. Perhaps you could do the same with the hob.

No, just assumed Stainless Steel was all the same.

White Spot sticks out like a sore thumb and Hob is 5 ring, 6 months old Siemens so very upset

Is it white or just a little lighter in colour? The product probably has some bleech content, and so has removed some staining from the stainless steel. Just clean the entire thing with the same product.

Thats because it cleaned it. Clean the whole thing. Or wait a while til it re-tarnishes.

No, its a different color from the NEW color of the hob, much much lighter. It does look like it was bleached.

There was no staining on spot I tested it on so to continue would change the hob color and be a huge job as well.

What do you mean the NEW color of the hob? The OP says the hob is 6 months old. So it will have tarnished. And been used.

Yep, I am the OP but Hob only cleaned with a damp cloth up till now and color same as when we got it, and it matches the Cooker (same SS).

Its not the same, take my word on it. ')

Why don't you try another test patch with mineral oil / baby oil? There is nothing harmful in that and you may be surprised at how dirty the stainless steel was. A damp cloth would not have cleaned it because you need an oil based product to clean stainless steel. Highly unlikely there was bleach in the product.

Just on this, have found this cleans my cast iron stove great on a dry babywipe. I do use it on my free standing cooker hood but only once/twice a year.
