Hello
I have just received a bill from my barrister of €2950 exc VAT for a brief fee. This was for a circuit family court judicial separation by consent that lasted 10 -15 minutes approximately, was heard almost straight away and involved no travelling. All the drawing up of documentation (consent orders etc etc) / previous consultations / file reviews have been separately billed. This is for a brief discussion outside the court, the ruling in court itself, and a 4 hour settlement meeting some time previously, full stop. I feel this is quite steep. Allowing €1000 for the settlement meeting, €1950 exc VAT still seems steep? Am I being unreasonable or is this the going rate? I am not planning to formally challenge this but should I perhaps ask if it could be looked at again? Thanks in advance for any help.
