Left Job. Tax back?

Hi,

I left my job 2 weeks ago after a row with my boss. Its not to bad as I wanted to set up my own thing for a while now and maybe now is the time. I have paid aprox 7k in tax this year. Can I get tax back and if yes how much? I have not signed on for unemployment(yet) I have looked at the Revenue site and it says it is best to wait 1 month to claim tax back. Do you have to wait that time and does it effect the amount you may get back if you claim before 1 month? If I am to do my own thing I am sure it wont happen as fast as I would like to.

Complete a Form P50 and send this to the tax office with your P45. The Revenue will make tax refunds based on this claim up to the date of the claim. This is probably why it was suggested that you leave it for a month - the repayment won't necessarily be that greay, and can then be made at regular intervals if you are due a tax refund.
