I voluntarily left my job 8 months ago and stupidly thought that I would be able to find a new job within a month or so. I have been living off my savings but they are begining to run out. I now regret leaving my last job even though working conditions were not great. I have moved back home and have only been able to find casual work which is not great but at least it's something. I am considering making a claim for Jobseeker' Allowance or Jobseeker's Benefit but I don't know if its worth my while. I am under 25 and I am living at home with two working parents. I know its a crap situation to be in but that's just the way things have worked out. I never thought the economy was in this bad a state.

If you have enough stamps paid your parents income won't come into it.
If not, you probably won't get much if any payment once your parents income is means tested, but go and sign on anyway. You will get credits, which will count towards future entitlements.

I have well over 104 stamps since I started working would I be alright.

Maybe, were you working for at least 9 months in 2007? That is the current governing year. Full rules are here http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/JobseekerSupports/JobseekersBenefit/Pages/jb.aspx

No I was only working 30 odd weeks does that rule me out.

In that case you'd need 26 in 2007 and 26 in 2006.
If you can't meet that one either, then it looks like you'll have to try for JA.

Have a read of the guide to unemployed key-post at top of forum. yOu may get JA if not mqualifed for JB>
