Left for the UK - claim tax back?

Hello all,

My wife and I have just moved permanently to the UK.

Sorry for the vague question, but rumour has it that we can claim back tax paid as our move is permanent. Does anyone know anything about this?

yes you can, you may not be entitled to a huge amount at this stage of the year, but sure you may as well claim it anyway. Call the revenue and ask them what forms you require, they're normally quite helpful (if you get the right person). As far as I know this can be reclaimed immediately if you can prove that you are moving permanently, if not it can be reclaimed after y/e via a balancing statement.
