Just returned from a trip and bought duty free cigarettes on board an Aer Lingus plane but forgot to take them with me when leaving. (Blame it on the jet lag!). Is there any point trying to get them back do you think?

Of course not. They're very bad for you!

Seriously — I very much doubt it, but you could always ring them? Tell them I left a bottle of Courvoisier and a magnum of Dom Perignon behind me, too...;)

Since you have effectively lost the cigarettes, you could claim on your travel insurance?

When I worked for an airline (won't say name)a few years ago, if we found anything on the plane we handed it in to lost property in the airport. We gave our details and if the items were never claimed after 3 months or so we were allowed keep the items.
