hi there! to make a long story short: had debts with MBNA (approx €2000), got dragged to court, got installment order, left country for a job and haven't been back for 2yrs, didn't pay those installments

what happens at immigrations at the airport if I re-enter the country?

note: i'm a non-irish eu-citizen.

thanks! :)

More than likely the instalment order has gone off the boil and is unlikely to cause any problems.

I agree with cashier - you incurred the debt, you should pay for it. The fact that you won't be stopped at customs/immigration because of this doesn't mean that you can just walk away from it. So, maybe talk to someone in MBNA (and not just email, text etc.), explain your predicament, and offer to pay off the debt at terms which might suit you both.

Nothing will happen at immigration. And it doesn't matter if you're an Irish, EU or non EU passport holder.

thanks alot for your replies. that gives me quite some relief! :)

Unfortunately judges in Europe tend to adopt a very lax policy when it comes to unpaid debts, if we can't come after the thousands of mortgage defaulters who run away to the UK every year, we certainly will not come after you Zadok
