I would be interested to hear people's experience of LBS. What is customer service like? There 90 days notice account sounds good, any catches? Am I reading it corectly - you can withdraw penalty free (once per year) as long as you keep 2,500 there?

Are they third safest bank in Ireland? After rabodirect and Nationwide.

Firstly, one might question if LBS have a long term commitment to Ireland. Some of the LBS recent activies have been suspicious/might cause one to question their committment to Ireland, for example, LBS have being ending all their long term deposit products on a phased basis. They no longer offer mortgages here either. One might speculate that they may close/sell their Irish operation. This might occur soon.

It is a good rate. No online access, cheques only.

Yes.

Subjective judgement. Arguably yes.

Agreed, there have been 7 retail banking 'brand' exits since 2007. Leeds Building Society is looking like it could be exit number 8 shortly.
