Hi All,
Just wondering what your experiences have been regarding Leeds Building Society ? In an effort to spread my deposits around multiple institutions, to get coverage on Deposit Guarentee Schemes etc, I intend to open a 90 Day notice account with them at 3.25%.
Many thanks,

Tom.

They never did demutualise, so there's always an option there. But the chances of a windfall these days, are very low

leeds building society

rate is ok staff in Dublin office helpful but they charge extra for any documentation ie. cert of interest £5.

The return on their 90 day notice account is very competitive.

Leeds do not offer web access to your account and operate by cheque only.

Leeds BS's long-term commitment to the Irish banking market is highly questionable.

Hi All,
Well I went ahead and opened the account with Leeds, and found them to be very pleasant to deal with and helpful.
Good return and happy that some of my deposits are now covered by the UK Deposit scheme.
Many thanks for your replies.
Tom.

Did you open the account in the Dublin branch, or in Great Britain?

Hmmm... are you sure you are protected by the UK deposit protection scheme?

If the eurozone starts to crumble, there will likely be a run on the Irish banks and buidling societies so the Irish govts protection scheme would come under pressure then your savings could be at real risk.

Hi celebtastic, Yes I'm sure I'm covered by the UK Deposit Scheme - It was my first question when opening the account, and it mentions it in several places on their literature.

Tom.
